Southport Golf Club is an easy walking course with a mild amount of undulation with tree lined fairways and strategically placed ponds and lakes. The course starts with a reasonable par 5 and most golfers meander through the first nine holes comfortably. The back nine is where games are won or lost with "amen" corner commencing with the par 3, 14th hole. This is where Southport has held itself together in tight pennant matches.  The back nine has been completely redeveloped over the past 15 years with the 13th hole and 18th hole both completely redeveloped in 2009.
