Golf : Local Rules

LOCAL RULES TO BE READ IN CONJUNCTION WITH RULES OF GOLF AND ANY TEMPORARY LOCAL RULES DISPLAYED ON THE NOTICE BOARD AT THE CLUB

Out of Bounds (Rule 27-1).

  • Beyond any fence bounding the golf course.
  • Beyond white stakes with black tops.
  • Beyond white squares with black dots on kerb LHS of the entry road. A ball, which crosses the entry road, and comes to rest beyond that road is out of bounds, even though it may lie on another part of the course.

Water Hazards and Lateral Water Hazards (Rule 26).

  • Water hazards: defined by yellow stakes or lines.
  • Lateral water hazards: defined by red stakes or lines.
  • A ball entering the water hazard behind the 4th green defined by blue stakes may be dropped in the nearest designated drop zone.

Ground Under Repair (Rule 25).

  • Defined by white stakes, lines or signs.
  • Clearly defined tyre marks caused by course machinery.
  • Erosion in bunkers.
  • Gardens and hedges are NOT GUR unless so marked.

Immovable Obstructions (Rule 24-2 & Specimen Local Rule 6).

  • Stakes defining water hazards and GUR.
  • Safety screens.
  • Tree protection screens
  • Staked trees and shrubs.

Movable Obstructions

  • Stones in bunkers. Rule 24-1 applies.

Relief for Embedded Ball

  • Specimen Local Rule 4 applies on page 125 of the 2008-2011 Edition of the Rules of Golf.

Retaining Walls for Tees

  • Are an integral part of the course and there is no relief.

Penalty for Breach of Local Rules.

  • Stroke play-two strokes.
  • Match play- loss of hole.

FLAG COLOURS

  • White - front of green.
  • Yellow - middle of green.
  • Check - rear of green.

DISTANCES

All measurements are metres to centre of green including 150 metre markers located on either side of fairways.
